  • Coffee Plantation Visit

Theres a coffee plantation somewhere in Australia. How does one get there and do they welcome visitors? Im trying not to expire my frequent flyer points! Or does anyone know of any in Indonesia?

    Re: Coffee Plantation Visit

I only know of a couple of locations. A mate of mine has told me of going to a plantation about 40km inland from Byron Bay, and I know of a couple of plantations near Mareeba in Nth Qld, inland from Cairns on the Tableland, but I have never had time to visit when Ive been up that way so I dont know if they welcome visitors. These are the only two areas that I know of where coffee is grown in Australia but others may be able to exand on this.

Please let us know what you find and give us some feedback if you get to visit.

I can think of a few

Mountain Top, Skybury, Capricorn Coast, Zentvelds, there are heaps more Im sure... A quick google and I just discovered a whole heap more.

People on this forum have visited some of them, so I guess you could just give the places youd like to visit a call.

The Wombah coffee plantation website says they do tours of the whole process. http://www.wombahcoffee.com.au/.

Pretty nice area too, near Yamba and Iluka. Great for a holiday.

On the Atherton Tablelands you have Skybury and Jacques that have tours. Jacques is on the main road from Cairns to Mareeba and Skybury is on the road from Mareeba to Chilego just out of Mareeba. The coffee at Skybury is very ordinary or at least it was the day I tried it. May have been the person making it (I wont call them a barista).

It is in the Gold Coast hinterland. 45 minutes drive from the beach.
