Hey, how come most of you are blokes?

Hi!  Ive just been noticing that a large percentage of you Coffeesnobs are blokes.  Not that theres anything wrong with that... but hey, whats the story?  :-?


Any other women out there who are trying to work out how to convince their other halves that they really need to upgrade from their small $400 domestic to a $2,000 semi-commercial hx machine (not to mention a grinder)?

Maybe its because sheilas who are into coffee have better things to do with their time than troll around on discussion forums.

I dont know why the majority of us are blokes. Could it be that more blokes enjoy coffee? Seems I see lots of baristae that are female, but it could be simply that women are more into casual service type jobs. Women do relate better with people than men. Has something to do with women being better communicators or something...

OK, I admit it, I AM a bloke. How come, you asked, Yulia. I dont know the precise details, but something to do with 46 chromosones, 23 of which are Y, and some are X, and when they come together, the extra X chromosone produces a predisposition to coffee which in turn --- hey presto, here I am. A Bloke.

I think you will find that most forums on the Net are bloke heavy. Particularly the technical forums....

Maybe females have better things to do with their time....

It would make a good subject for a thesis.

I posed the same question a couple of weeks ago in another thread - and I thought some of the replies (about needing balls to make coffee) would put my wife off participating in a forum like this. Not being all-PC, or critical (after all, the answers were given in jest and its important to have a sense of humour) but I too was wondering why this place is 90% plus male...
