I've since bought some coffee from a cafe nearby where I used to get it from and am very happy with it. It doesn't have a date either but tastes fresh to me and look alike proper coffee (they used to roast on site).

No it didn't have a date on it but my other 2 (from 2 different places) don't either and are much better.

Maybe try adjusting grind size and brew weight?

I really like the sounds of that.

It all depends on your personal taste really. I’ve honestly never bought anything from Coffeesnobs that I haven’t been satisfied with.

Having said that I do have some personal favourites:
    Peru
    Indian
    Brazil yellow bourbon
    Ethiopian (any)
Indian 50/50 blend with any of the above.

Making an order with others is a great idea to reduce postage costs and would also enable you to try a number of different beans.
    All the best.

Espresso Wow is great both with and without milk.
Fiefy's Latte Art blend is great in milk.

There's pretty clear advice on use of each coffee if you read the description. Plenty of the single origins are fine either way. Haven't tried the other blends.

I am working my way through the menu.
My favourite so far is the Peru Ceja de Selva Estate, smooth chocolate tones.
Then I need decaf Wow to fuel my desires with out maxing out my caffeine intake.

Unlike stale bread you can’t “pimp” stale coffee beans by putting them in the oven for a few minutes....
Get on beanbay for freshly roasted beans. It is fresh, fairly priced and delivered super quick even in lockdown times.
Which beans would be a good starter for both espresso and lattes? It's just the shipping that blows out the cost, might need to co-ordinate an order with a friend or 2 and split the shipping costs.

That being the case, I suspect that your "reputable roaster" is well over charging if they can sell anything at 50% off. They are either using low grade beans with a massive mark-up or they had a pile of stale coffee that they needed to unload.

Try some fresh roasted to order coffee that is priced fairly, never stale and never discounted.
    It might be better!
I believe my technique is pretty good and consistent. I use a Rocket Fausto grinder with an older model VBM single boiler (Picollo/Levetta?)

I do wonder why they were half price although to be fair I did get another type of coffee in the same order and they are much better. I will definitely try the beanbay coffee next time.

I'm not sure on the roast, looks medium to me but I'm no expert. I have not used these beans before.

Well I was actually making a latte but it gives you an idea of what it look like.
i grinded 18grams and it was about 30grams in the cup. They are cuppacino cups.
when I make lattes I'm not as fussy as to the ratios used but when making espresso I aim for a 1:2 but always seems a bit more than 18g in each shot when making a double.
