Thanks for this comment greenman, I am very new to roasting and just did my first Volcan Galeras roast today which I stopped about 20secs after FC. I really like V60 pour-overs onto ice during summer so it sounds like this might be a good one to try cold and see what flavours I get ?

I roast Volcan Galeras for a few of my friends for their cold brew, I roast it to just on a vigorous first crack and then cool, it produces a tasty cold brew, they keep asking for more so it must be good!!!!Originally posted by Barry O'Speedwagon View Post
The Colombian Volcan Galeras sounds closest to what you want. It's pretty good in cold drip (haven't tried cold brew). Personally I'd favour the Sidamo Ardi, but it is a little fruity.

lancruiser Thanks mate.
I am currently restricted to an Ipad.
Looks like I will have to kick the studmistress off her laptop for long enough todownload the app and some more profiles.

amberale, Sidamo is a natural processed coffee. Most of the published profiles for KL is too hot and too fast.
You need to stretch out the drying phase. Think "Steady and dark" profile but for a lighter roast. For filter (not Nodic), a roast level of 1.8 - 2.4 will work. For espresso, not more than 3.2 and a tighter espresso pour. You night also need to extend your rest time.
The fan profile in "Steady and dark" is taken from FIrestarter. In my opinion, needs modifications. Try stretching it out proportionally to the duration of the roast.
Best of luck.

"Barry, have you roasted the Sidamo with your Nano7?
I am getting bland flavours from my Sidamo beans and would appreciate any tips on profile."
Try the Ninjaturtle profile ... but start with a lower than your usual setting ie: if you use a setting of 3.0 then I suggest you start with 2.5 or 2.6 to get the same roast colour.
Cheers Mark

Have tried the Espresso Wow in espresso-based drinks, but not in cold brewed methods. It's great and is well worth a try. I typically only buy the roasted beans when returning from overseas and having no roasted beans in the house. The Colombian I referred to was roasted by me (using Andy's green beans).

I'm not sure that I have...I did a Gambella....it was ok, but not better than that. Still experimenting and finding my feet. I'm far from an expert on the Nano at the moment. I tend to like the Sidamo with a coarser grind, even if it pours a little quicker (I use a Cremina, so I can give it a little bit less pressure.....dunno if that is useful for you though).

Thank you sir. I’d say I will try both and see how it goes. Personally I like a bit fruitier but family and friends are likely to enjoy something more like the ‘Maccas DriveThru’ if you know what I mean.Originally posted by Barry O'Speedwagon View Post

Maybe I can convert them.
Have you tried the Espresso Wow? It sounds like a nice all rounder that would not disappoint the majority. Would be interested to hear what people think.

I’ve not really purchased roasted beans from bean bay before, I’ve also not really made cold brew (but am just starting). Planning on making big batches and keeping as well as giving to family and friends.
Looking for something not too fruity, bold and perhaps notes of nut/cocoa. From previous experience can you guys suggest a Bean Bay roast (or a couple) for me to buy and try.
Thanks all.
