  • Looking for good cups

Hi - does anyone have some recommendation for good cappucino cups? I am currently using 240 ml cups from Australian Fine China but am thinking of getting some of smaller volume for a stronger cuppa. Also I reckon it would be really cool if someone could make some with a 30 ml volume line/ indent on the inside too but although I believe some latte glasses have volume increments on them I havent been able to find anything like this for capp cups. Does anyone know if anything like this is available or just any general recommendations for smaller cups? I live in Perth but would be happy to buy online.

      Re: Looking for good cups

PLEASE HELP - have not had a huge response from you guys yet - maybe cos Im in Perth. I have done a reasonably good search of past CS threads and google since I first posted on this topic. It would seem that a good capp cup size to aim for is 170 ml which leads me to go for Nuova Point (165 ml) rather than ACF (150ml). Not forgetting I am currently using 240 ml autralian fine china cups so dont want to go too small too fast but also feel that it would be good to stay with barista standards (as per previous threads). So thought I would try to get hold of 5.5 oz Milano style cappucino (tulip shape) Nuova Point cups - any ideas of where I can get these from in Perth ?? - I am quite happy to order by phone or online and have found somewhere in the USA but their freght charge is considerably more than the 4 cups and saucers themselves!!

Have you seen any you like at a particluar cafe? If so ask them where they got them from. Seems you and I missed the boat when CoffeeSnob Dennis did the mass ordering of Nuovas. still kicking myself

I just checked - I have both ACF and NP tulips - and the size difference is negligible.

            Gday nikki....

Quite a lot of us have the Nuova Point beauties (thanks mostly to Dennis of CuppaCoffee) and I personally find them to be ideal, nicely made and quite robust (Im a clumsy bugger :-[)....

            Mal.

Hi nikki - the NPs are available from Chefs Warehouse in Sydney. They dont have a website but you can contact them on (02) 9211 4555.

              Gee, I wish I had a $1 for every time I said that! ;D

                    Thats very nice of you.

If you do that, make sure you wrap each item in bublle wrap, then straw, then more bubble wrap!

Dont mark it as fragile - otherwise AU Post will treat it like a football.

I learnt this little lesson the hard way.

                      Re: Looking for good cups

I am in NSW (not Sydney) and picked some up from my local kitchen and restaurant supplies. Maybe check for somewhere like that in Perth.

I have both NP and ACF cups and they are both great cups and not too different in volume.

THanks for the offer YeeZa but I have recruited a relative over there who owes me a favour. Thanks for your recommendation regarding wrapping for postage Denis. Might not rely on Australia Post - will try someone with a fragile service. If anyone has any ideas re couriers then let me know.

                          Hi

I have some made by "Classica Essentials" and the word "Florence" is on the box. There are 6 espresso cups and saucers.
They are not expensive (at a guess $30 - 50 total) and were given to me for a present. So not really sure where to get them from but a Google will prob find them. They are much cheaper than NP cups but for some reason the coffee in them still tastes the same :-)

In pic height cup = 70mm, dia at top = 45mm

                          Mike
