  • where to buy supplies of "Royal Bean" coffee or similar

The Donut King chain have their own internal coffee blend called Royal Bean. They don't sell the beans or ground coffee through their outlets. Does anybody know if it's possible to buy "Royal Bean" coffee beans or ground coffee anywhere? Or a similar tasting roast? Best coffee I ever tasted but I live hours away from the nearest Donut King and want to be able to brew it at home.

My guess is that it is made by Di Bella, who are (or at least used to be) the supplier to RFG (who own Donut King and lots of similar chains). You can buy various blends made by Di Bella, but no guarantees that they are similar to whatever it is that you like abouth Donut King one.

Can you describe the taste you are after?
How are you brewing at home? Espresso only? Filter? Milk based? I don’t know how long or wide your coffee drinking experience is, however, I think if you try a few beans from Bean Bay here or even a roaster local to you closer than hours away you will almost certainly find a reliable source that can match what Donut King offer.

Can anyone else vouch for donut king coffee? I have one that’s a 5min drive away but never thought they specialised in coffee

I wouldn’t say they specialise in coffee. They specialise in donuts and sell coffee as well. I haven’t had a coffee from Donut King for close to 10 years so I can’t say what it’s like now but back then it was truly awful. They are however owned by RFG as Barry pointed out and RFG have a couple of better brands with Di Bella being the pick of the bunch and Cafe2U being palatable.

Do yourself a big favour and rather buy fresh beans from Andy on this site: CoffeeSnobs - BeanBay - Roasted Coffee - fresh roasted to order

Doubleshot, one imagines that DK would be using a bean/roast combination chosen to appeal to the broad spectrum of consumers.
Following on from Graham above, I would suggest you try the "WOW" off BeanBay which I think would be pretty hard to dislike.
Then, if you like it, problem solved in terms of worrying about where you are going to get the other one.
