St Helena Island Coffee

It doesn’t include the cost of posting it to here. That makes it about 15 times more expensive than the Yemen Mocha. If I was cashed up and in the UK I might seek out a cup but surely it can't be that much better. Imagine telling someone you paid more than $60 for a cup of coffee (based on the 15x factor).

Surely they could import some civet cats to the island to help bump the price up a litle more?

Well it is bloody expensive but not surprising considering how it is produced. https://whatthesaintsdidnext.com/st-...e-worlds-best/
Found a supplier who sell it at UK£50.00 per 125g which works out at about A$700 per Kg.

I gather the St Helena coffee is some of the most expensive available. I wonder how it compares to the Jamaica Blue Mountain or the Hawaii Kona etc?

Yes, I have this interesting book on my shelf.
Someone posted about beans from St Helena back in 2008 but warned off them presumably because they were so expensive, you don't want to ruin the roast. The cost of production and getting them to market would make them quite costly. I'm not sure that it would be better than the Yemen we already have in Beanbay.
In 2019, I posted about another island nation off the coast of Africa with its own unique coffee but also with the expense associated with the lack of easy access to markets.

St Helena Island Coffee
I am currently reading a book about Coffee - "Black Gold - The Dark History of Coffee' by Antony Wild. There is a section about St Helena and Napoleon who apparently was fond of coffee. Coffee grows on St Helena - Green Tipped Bourbon Coffee from Yemen. Here is some more info https://www.saintcooks.com/st-helena-coffee/
Has anyone tried St Helena coffee? Would be curious to know more about it.
