My wife, who doesnt drink tea or coffee, or even milk in any way shape or form - and never has, was this morning feeling a little low. I suggested she might be coming down with something, that I was also feeling a bit "monday morning" but Id be better after a double shot flat white.
Anyways, she watched me lift as the morning drifted on and very meekly suggested that I make her a shot. Trying to hold back my delight and excitement I explained that where she was suggesting she should go is pretty full on! A straight up shot for a non coffee drinker with a sweet tooth that declares most things I find unbearably sweet as dull!!!
OK, so Ive got some good "cut through the milk like razor" blends but I dont want to scare her off so I decided on the Guatemalan Antigua as the more mellowed beans available to me, adjusted the grind and pulled. She requested, after seeing the shot, that I add about 50% water bringing it to about 45 ml of dark, crema covered goodness. Straight to the nose, then lips and *gulp* down it went. I waited for some screwed face reaction and instead got "mmmm, thats pretty smooth and easy to drink, can I have another one?"
OMG I literally danced around the kitchen saying "yes, yes my darling, of course you can!"
The next she tried with about a half teaspoon of sugar and declared it one of the most intriguing beverages she had ever had.
A not only non coffee drinker, but actually openly hostile and anti coffee non drinker has, with the right home espresso gear and some love and passion and pedantic care in the shot prep and pull, become a open minded short black drinker in less than 2 weeks. Im walking around 3 feet off the ground at the moment...

If there is rejoicing in heaven over one repentant sinner, what is there on earth over someone converting to Coff-olichism. Ouch, I almost hurt something coming up with that.
