Has anyone experiencing long delays on their order to arrive?

  • #2
The StudMistress issues me my daily orders before my morning coffee along with the punishments to be inflicted if non-compliance occurs.
    What are you waiting for?

    Hi There,

Long delays on orders from where, Coffesnobs?

I think you will find Andy dispatches orders very quickly and as always its more of a issue with the carrier. Be it Aus post or someone else.

    Regards,

    Chris

Depending on where you are and who you are ordering from then yes there are long delays.
When the first lockdown was on in Victoria mail was being sent to Queensland to be sorted as the sorting centres were on half staffing for distancing requirements.

I've ordered quite a few items through Amazon over the past month, shipped from both the US and Australia, delivery times have been very good, also a couple of packages from suppliers within Aust, similar experience.🙂

Sounds like you are referring to orders from within Australia EfeCaner . For me, I've experienced delays of a month of more when ordering from Europe but no real delays from within Australia. From China is normally three weeks and around two weeks from USA.

Sydney and SE QLD in lockdown, borders requiring permits and additional added lag, VIC out of lockdown this week but expect another in a week or so.

It's perpetually boring but all we can do is ship everything the day we receive payment (which we do) and then wait for the delivery people to catch-up on their mountains of freight.

It's mostly caused by everyone in lockdown sitting at home bored and buying crap on the net, lots of crap and lots of things they would normally buy in person instead of filling post/courier warehouses/vans etc. You can call the freight companies but I expect everyone waiting on something is calling them too and while they might be able to tell you roughly what the local lag is it won't make your delivery get there any faster.

The only sure thing is always order earlier and stress less. Not many items disappear each year, but during a pandemic they can take way longer than they should.

I found orders coming through Aust Post and via other companies was "as normal" i.e. pre-Covid until the last month or so after the NSW outbreak.
The main problem regarding items despatched from NSW is that many companies have temporarily closed and are not answering phones or responding to email.
I have an expensive item being serviced that has been there for 13 weeks and likely to be there for 13 more. Not really complaining - that's life during Covid.

Ordered some printer ink 12:40pm Tuesday, dispatched from Western Sydney lock down area, delivered to my front door 11:00am next morning.
Was free delivery on order, so wasn't expecting it to be that quick!
Package also included a 50 pack of sanitizer wipes for free - how's that for service?

Fastway seem to be taking a lot longer than usual, over 9 days and still waiting!
Picked up Geelong, still in transit to Sydney by their website.

Suspect it's sitting in a BIG pile in the Sydney depot and not scanned yet.

Sydney depot seems to be a bottleneck (blackhole) at the moment.

With Fastway/Aramex you can often get the mobile number of your local driver via their website.
Might be worth giving them a call to see how big a pile they are dealing with.

                    I'll give them another week.

The bottleneck goes beyond particular couriers. I ordered some whisky (Adams Distillery Sherry Cask) last week. Got a message from Aus Post apologising and saying that stuff is basically stuck in a few depost and to expect it at the latest by next Monday. For Aus Post to send such an email (I wasn't asking for quick delivery) suggests that there are understandable capacity problems at the moment. All good.

I just called Aramex. They said this parcel still in Geelong. Andy shipped this on 29/7 the same day I placed the order. It’s unbelievable

Hmmm, that's simply not true. I suspect you got a newbie on the help desk.
The first scan on your shipment at 15:45 was at the Snobbery, the second scan an hour later 16:55 is when it gets loaded on the bigger truck out of Geelong so I can guarantee that it's not in Geelong but more likely sitting in the Sydney depot waiting for the next scan.

The current COVID epicentre is SW Sydney, which is also Sydney’s warehouse district. Probably causing flow on effects for logistics nationwide.
