Re: three part doco - black coffee
It wasnt so much about the big coffee chains, though starbucks was heavily featured. More about fairtrade and pushing that the producers of coffee need to be getting a better deal for their labours.
oh and a lot of mentioning how yirg is the best.

Re: three part doco - black coffee
I have seen all three on SBS
First 2 are quite good but not complete
Its main format is akin to a promotional documentary with real and factual content scattered throughout
The 3rd is all about the big coffee chains like Starbucks

I have always had a briki being of Greek decent.
I ground up some home roasted beans a while back to a Turkish brew fineness and it went down well.

Re: three part doco - black coffee
Mal I have seen this series in my local dvd store (blockbuster), Its in their special interest. Sooo maybe it might possibly be in other stores around the country (or maybe the manager at mine just really enjoys their coffee).

Re: three part doco - black coffee
There is a lady in this that makes a latte by pouring the shot into the milk. Ive tried this and it can be quite pretty with just the dot in the centre. Tastes pretty much the same as a regular latte once you are past the froth on top.
But is this a latte by definition?

Re: three part doco - black coffee
Yes, this series was played over a three week period last year on SBS and I believe was available for purchase at that time from Dymocks. Where did you get your copies from out of interest?
Mal.

three part doco - black coffee
Just started watching a 3 part documentary called Black Coffee. 1st part was all about the history of coffee and its spread from ethiopia throughout europe. Very interesting stuff. Learnign all sorts of new and interesting facts about coffee I didnt know before. I highly recommend it if you can get your hands on a copy.
They had some film of the way coffee is traditionally prepared in ethiopia. Watching them roast it on a pan over the fire and crush it in a hollow log was pretty cool, might have to try that one day...Tags: None
