  • Coffee Bench Reccomendations

    Hey Guys,

My kitchen layout is horrible, so currently have my coffee machine on one side of my stove, and my grinder on the other side.

As such I've been thinking about getting a standalone bench to make a coffee station. Does anyone have any recommendations on benches/islands they've purchased? Just looking for ideas to get inspiration.

The bench would have to be positioned just outside the kitchen area, so it would be extremely difficult to get water to it. Do you think not having water/sink integrated into the bench is a bad idea? I don't have a plumbable machine, but might consider upgrading to one in the future.

    Thanks.

I got this from Ikea and put it on castors. Love it.

Wow, so many toys I'm jealous.

Something like that could work, but the colours wouldn't suit. Looks like ikea have it only in white or grey.

Do you find yourself missing having a sink nearby?

Yes to the missing sink. I am having a rhino rinser thingie installed (it's on back order) but a flojet with accumulator would have been another option. Ikea have this model in grey too, from memory.

I had been looking at the IKEA Bror bench before but somehow missed this one.
Did you customise this with castor rollers? I cannot see this option on IKEA's site.

this has been my dilemma since moving to Sunshine Coast. my machine is one one side of the kitchen and grinder other side. And, im always stressed my wife will get water or food on both of them. Thinking ill build a bench in the laundry for them.

While Ikea might suit some decors, I just kept an eye out on FB Marketplace for a couple of weeks and found a solid pine sideboard for a couple of hundred bucks.
Lots available and choose your size and style.

I'd pay $200 just to avoid going to Ikea in Melbourne.

BTW the castors are used surprisingly often. The leg braces that the casters are attached to are from Decent Espresso and specially designed for coffee carts. The castors themselves are rated for 300kg and are from a commercial/industrial online site. So they are high spec and give me piece of mind when I put a 50kg lever on there (had the Valexia previously and a Nurri on pre order).

That answers my question about the castors (see above). Apologies for the redundancy!

            lienemann updated with more details:

The cart from Ikea is a "TORNVIKEN island".

Then from the Decent Espresso website i bought the set of "IKEA Bror wheel bracket set of 4" and "Set of 18 M6 bolts for IKEA BROR Table".

I then bought a set of industrial castors for the wheels rated at 300kg load capacity.

I wanted heavy duty wheels because it's amazing how often I wheel it out to clean or change power cables and I wanted to have absolute confidence that it would support a 50kg lever machine (or two).

Thank you for those details; and the additional picture. This is very helpful. I think I'll do the same.
