  • Of MICE and Men ( and women and others )

Anyone heading to the MICE show next month.
It is the first I have heard of it.
Is it a fun day out?
Can we expect any/much new stuff on display?
Will there be influencers there flogging books and vegetable peelers that I can avoid?
Should I leave my credit card at home?

I'll probably go to catch up with a few people or if there are competitors that want a hand with something. With these trade events, it's often hard to find good coffee to actually drink; usually the thing to do is to go to the country trade associations and they usually have a few airpots of competently brewed and roasted coffee from their countries that they are delighted to hand out and talk to people about.

It can be an eye opening experience, and a chance to see and discuss alternate viewpoints to what is presented online.

Roasting and/or Brewing workshops would be very interesting to attend, not sure if they are in the mix like the event in Milan earlier this year.

I bought tickets for 2020 and 2021 but both were covid cancelled. Kind of lost my enthusiasm. Maybe 2023 will be the year.

I went in 2018? to see if the coffee machine design I'd dreamt up trod on anyone else's toes.

It was a really good day out, lots of interesting tech on display including the (then new) Decent with John himself on the stand.

I got in and out without damage to the bank account, YMMV.

Sadly I can't make the pilgrimage to Melbourne this year, it is well worth attending, meet the producers, attend cupping sessions and tastings, check out the WBC competition, lots of shiny coffee machinery and products to tempt you.

I’m planning to swing by for a day. Am keen to see some of the World Barista Championships. Is the final day - Friday - likely to be the best for that or is there less action as the numbers are whittled down to the final two or three by that point? Thought it might be fun to see the new champ crowned!

                  I am planing on going.

I know for a fact Scott Rao will be there, hopefully some other of his band of merry coffee-men will be there (by that I mean Hedrick, Gagne).

Lance Hendrick was recently in Sydney for Breville so will be interesting to see if he makes another trip down under so soon.

2 QLDers coming down for Thursday 29th....... mainly to trash AFL supporters, but also decided to lend our experience with International Roast to the expo.....

(kidding , kidding, kidding ... I don't want to get kicked off the forum by Geelong supporters)

actually probably going to take pictures where allowed and ask dumb questions

Should be fine Spring weather by then.
You should be right with your shorts, tee shirts and thongs.

Discovered I had tickets left over from the last two years cancelled events and a travel bank credit for covid-cancelled Virginia flights. So I'm making a flying (sorry) visit for the Thursday and the Friday morning.

i would have loved to have gone, but been weekdays only and during work hours makes it impossible to attend. Have fun to all going and be sure to upload many photos for us who could not make it
