Really appreciate it, and sorry for the late reply - I've been travelling

Just checked the maximum at 25 grams using an Ethiopian bean. I normally weigh out 15.5 grams and have them sitting on the bench ready to go. I feel that it certainly helps with my workflow when single dosing.

What's the approximate capacity of the Weber resin tubes? I noticed the Bean Cellar during the Key campaign, but didn't see the resin tubes. They're not too big for a single dose?

My standard storage method is freezing. I mix it up nearly every time I brew so I need everything frozen in single doses. I do occasionally work through a 250g bag but definitely notice it fading in the latter part, though I've opened it over 10 times at that point. Your idea with tubes just for freezing and bags for a few days sounds good.

Wow, you’ve gone above and beyond level3ninja. Much appreciated. Lots to think about and chase up here, freezer space to begin with. It’s at a premium in my house.
Do you essentially use these mainly when you want to freeze beans or do you use them more generally?
For everyday storage I’m using relatively small one way valve bags so that they each get opened between two and four times, then they’re empty. My Kaffelogic roasts are small. My thinking right now would be to use the tubes for freezing and keep the bag system for everyday. Unless there’s a noticeable difference even with the limited opening.

level3ninja great resource tx. I have ordered some blue capped tubes and a base and funnels. All for freezing dark roast beans that my kids enjoy and that I don't.

I'll use the packing/weighing/dosing machine that you featured above, along with the funnels and tubes to pack 100 tubes super fast.

This is the dosing machine I use thanks to tompoland (needs every dose checked but still less than half the time of manual) - ebay item

The 2.2cm one of these (not in picture) cut down is my budget funnel in photos above (a friend has this at the moment, and having never used the WW funnel he didn't think there was anything wrong with it) AE:_mLmxj8O

Most centrifuge tubes have a pointy or rounded bottom so they can't stand up without a rack, I only got self standing tubes.

These plastic sausage tubes also arrived after nearly 2 months, and while it does get clogged if you yeet a whole dose in, it's not as bad as the metal one. Still not as good as the WW funnel but it's only $3-4. Didn't feel annoying like the metal one did a bit. The last photo is which option to select (annoyingly they don't offer the largest diameter on its own) AE: _mKFneHs

The purple ones are the nice AE ones, feel good to tighten and don't feel like you have to crank them too hard, the orange ones are the cheap AE ones, doing a whole batch of then chews the hands a bit because you have to hold the cheese grater lid tight and tighten down hard. But other than that they seem to perform the same.

The "funnel" full of beans is a sausage tube that I cut down to 15mm shaft, closest thing I could find to the WW funnel, and much cheaper. With the WW funnel you can just yeet a whole 25g dose into it and all the beans go down. With the sausage tube you need to pour them in slower, it works much better than trying to get them straight in the tube, but coming from the WW funnel it was noticably different.

These blue ones are my current favourite for value/quality. AE: _mLjQZMA. Better quality than the orange ones without being as expensive as the purple ones.

It should be noted that the orange and blue tubes need a good rinse with hot water to get rid of the plastic smell before first use. The pUrple ones just need to be opened for a few minutes, as they come as "sterile" so I'm guessing they've been cleaned already.

Being plastic, any tube will soak up roastiness and retain it for what seems like forever. You need to speak the whole tube in hot water and Cafetto powder (including lid), then rinse that out, and air them for a couple of days. Best to segregate into good tubes and medium roast or worse tubes.

I have one of the "30mm X 40 holes" of these, and it's really good for bulk filling. AE: _mPIxbYq

Femelle this is going to be a bit eclectic as I'm copying and pasting things I've written previously (elsewhere) to save rewriting everything. I also can't post AliExpress links but I'll try to give a way to identify them.

    ********************************
I've got the old WW tubes, the new WW tubes, and a couple of different AliExpress centrifuge tubes of varying prices. All perform the same in the freezer according to my anecdotal experience. I can't see exactly how the new WW tubes valve is supposed to work, it seems to all be one piece with the silicone that seals the lid to the tube.

F is new, E is old

My palate isn't good enough to trust for actual roast peak, but I had the mid range filter from ONA before and after they started storing in relatively cheap looking centrifuge tubes in ziplock backs in vaccine freezers (-78°C or thereabouts). I had the same coffee fresh and frozen and couldn't tell the difference. To this day the person preparing the brew has a much bigger effect than the freezer. In Fyshwick unless Seb is working I don't bother ordering anything nice. Too hit and miss.

You can't just dump the beans in the AE funnel like you can the WW one, but if you pour them in it works.

OK, I'm happy to do the testing but I don't want to organise the group buy.

    Any volunteers?

Short answer, yes. There's been quite a few done over the years.

Does coffee snobs allow group buys?

We could buy a sample of a few different types of tubes, I could test them for oxygen uptake rate and we could bulk buy whatever offers the best price / performance ratio.
