Agreed then ... average size.
Not that it narrows things down much :-(

I'm going out on a limb here, but it could be coffee beans

I don’t know how clear this photo is, but I have the mystery bean in the middle with some Beanbay Yirgacheffe Special Prep on the right, and Beanbay Sulawesi Blue Triple Sort on the left. By my reckoning, the mystery bean is - on average - slightly larger than the Yirgacheffe, but smaller than the Sulawesi.

How does it compare size wise to other beans you've had? Hard to tell from the photo but I'm guessing on the larger side? If so that would suggest something grown at a moderate altitude.

Identifying a mystery bean
Hi everyone, I was given a packet of unidentified green beans for Christmas. Any ideas what they might be? Here are some details:
- The beans are naturally processed, or maybe honey processed or some other method. Definitely not washed.
- They are either ungraded, or very poorly graded with a variety of sizes, broken beans, pea berries, etc. Even some stones!
- Green they give off a prominent aroma of fermented fruit.
- I roasted some for filter using a standard profile for high grown naturals. The result was pretty motley, but a surprising aroma of nuts and caramel came off the grinder.
- I have only tried it as a cold drip, but the nuts and sweet caramel carry through strongly in the cup. Medium bodied with a delicate acidity. It was actually very enjoyable. Definitely much smoother and more refined than I was expecting.
My guess is maybe a honey processed Colombian, or something similar. Am I on the right track? Any other ideas?
