    Just wanted to hear about the best cups of coffee had throughout the year as the year comes to a close.

    My coffee of the year was the Colombia Red honey roasted by Criteria Coffee. I bought multiple bags. I just loved how floral the coffee tasted.

    My runner up as a close second was the Costa Rica Francis Mena from Ickle Coffee. This coffee made delicious filter brews and great espresso particularly turbo shots.

    Hands down it was CoffeeSnobs own Ethiopia Shakisso Estate. There's a reason this coffee has won medal after medal in the Espresso, Latte, and Filter categories in multiple years and was the overall champion of the 2021 Golden Bean competition.

    Huge shout out to Andy for sourcing this bean and bringing out all its awesome flavors in his roasting of this incredible coffee.

      I'm down to about 7kg of Shakisso and 300g of Ismaeli(my 2021 pick).
      Keep this up and everyone will want it.

        The Nicargua Datanli el Diablo Natural was up there in the flavour department, a stunner in the lighter roasts especially.

          The "Nicaragua Datanli el Diablo" sits very close to the Shakisso in our house too...

        Mine was also an Ethiopian coffee: West Arsi - Nansebo washed. This was the first wet processed Ethiopian I've tried and when I get the roast right it's very, very good.

        It's also very hard to get right: does the worst dip and flick at 180 - 190 oC I've yet seen.

          How do you chose a coffee of the year :-) - maybe not quite the same as if you could only drink one bean what would it be. That said drinking Shakisso w Mexican over the last days has been amazing & will definitely be on repeat. And first tastes of Bolivian has me intrigued - and/but Colombian & the Yemens will always be there - & something about admiring 7kgs of Shakisso. All wishes for happy roasting + in 2023

              My coffee of the year is a close tie with a Kenyan and Colombian geishas from the Santuario project.

              The washed Kenya Gachatha AA is an excellent coffee, scoring in the high 80s and was the best Kenyan I came across.

              Equally tied with the Kenya, were four stunning geishas from Colombia:
              • Finca Santuario Cauca - Yellow Honey
              • Finca Santuario San Jose - Honey
              • Campo Hermoso - black honey carbonic maceration
              • Campo Hermoso - washed.
              The geishas are perfect examples of well processed coffees that highlight notes from the different processes. All succulently sweet with floral aromas, each one produced a crystal clean cup. It was impossible to choose a favourite from them.
