  • Training in Perth.

I was wondering if one of the CSers out there could tell me who runs amateur barista training in Perth. Am exitedly awaiting a new espresso machine and grinder (shipping today...yay!) from talk coffee and i want to get the best out of the new machines. I have experience on an old Faema commercial machine (old pig of a thing, but works quite well), but would like to fine tune my technique and keep the learning curve on the way up.
    Thanks in advance,
    James.

        Hey guys,
My first post here are reading so much. Im now aware that I was completely unaware of how little I know. First step to knowledge and learning about is so addictive. I am also interested in doing a barista course (with the aim of working on a commercial machine) in perth so any recommendations would be great.

          Tell me about it Tony!
When I first found this site a year or so ago, i really thought that there was not too much to know about coffee, machines, grinders etc. How wrong i was!! Once you get into the groove though you truly do become a snob, and the benefit is truly excellent coffee at home and work. Unfortunately you will realise the cafes you used to think had good coffee, will now seem mediocre at best. There are good coffees to be had out there, however they are few and far between. At least i can guarantee an excellent coffee at home.
          Enjoy the journey.

            Hi James,

I did the Espresso Basics course @ Epic which was great.  It is a half day course, provides lots of practical experience, and youre given notes to take away.

Vanessa Moore was my trainer on the day and she was brilliant.

            Hope it helps.
            Cheers,
            Greg

              Cheers Dalspec,
Once i get my new toy and have a play, i fully intend to do one or two of the epic courses. They serve to best coffee in town so i guess they must have some of the best training as well !!!
