  • Good fresh roasters in Perth?

I couldnt post in the WA section yet as Im still newbie so hopefully this is the next best place.

Where do people in perth get good fresh roasted coffee?

Some guys called Mago in Midland are really good but they will only sell 3kg at a time and I dont know anyone to split the beans with, and Ive read you should only keep beans for 1 month.

Ideas? Does anyone sell smaller quantities of decent beans? Or does someone want to go halves in 3kg (@ $20/kg) of Mago (which from memory was fantastic when I had it years ago).

    Cheers,
    jprm

Why not buy from Coffee Snobs?
Click on the "Buy Brown" picture at the top left of the page.
You can buy as little as 500g.

If you have a look at Grendels blog Im fairly sure you will find the answers you seek.

      Or maybe just PM Grendel.

Take out the middleman altogether, load up with green beans from beanbay, then you can roast what you want, when you want. Im also in Perth and although there are some good roasters here, i find the convenience of roasting my own beats hopping in the car a driving all over the place every 7-10 days. Not to mention you will save yourself a small fortune and get to try coffees from all over the world. Dont be too worried about roasting your own, its quite quick and easy and you will get a lot of satisfaction from it and there is a goldmine of information in this forum.
        Cheers.

Cheers for the ideas. Ive been reading about home roasting today. My italian friend put me off the idea before... he said a chemist friend of his back in italy worked for illy and spent years doing research projects changing minor conditions on large scale roasts... I started thinking home roasting may lack control that might be needed.

I might just get a green bean starter pack, a heat gun, and go from there.

Just do it, i havent bought roasted coffee for over a year now and I cant see any reason why I ever would again (although I do want to try espresso wow from brown beanbay). Green beans also last for 3 years or so if kept in the right conditions. I have a nice little stockpile of about 12 single origins and i can roast from 100-400 at a time depending on what i feel like.
