  • INTERESTING READING

I was given the opportunity to flick through a new book titled "Cafe Republic of Australia" while i was having a coffee at my local cafe. A very interesting, light-hearted fun read about some of the characters behind the coffee industry in Australia. Has any one else seen this book, if not, i recommend checking it out!!!

    Cafe Republic

    Hi elbeano,

Youve just blown the whistle on probably the best secret kept in the coffee industry these days....

Cafe Republic is indeed a one of a kind publication by Drink Australia. It is the latest Cafe book in the series of fresh and vibrant publications exposing the lighter side of beverage to the coffee connoisseurs. It is set to be the icon of cafe culture books following the success of 2 other beverage books: GOOD Wine, BAD Language, GREAT Vineyards and Beer Nuts.

Cafe Republic is an impeccable colour publication that features 26 colourful cafes, coffee houses and entertaining interviews with a lively breed of Australian Coffee characters.

Believing that coffee making doesnt have to be such a serious business, and appreciating Drink Australias outstanding design and work and humorous angel taken in previous books, Renzo and I were honored and excited to accept the generous invitation of the publisher to take part of this amazing project and be included side by side other coffee professionals like Rob Forsyth from Forsyth Coffee & Tea, Dean Morgan from Morgans Coffee and Will Young & Ben DEmden from Campos coffee.

A special thanks to Scottie Callaghan, who has conducted the interview and made us laugh all the way through the 3 hours of past digging, anecdotes collecting and soul searching...

This is not your typical coffee or tea book – theres swearing, some nudity and to put it plainly, the coarse grind of daily life of a café republican exposed. How hard is it to make it in the café business? You’ll find the inside stories in this book.

Cafe Republic would be officially launched in Brisbanes Good Food and Wine Show (Nov 7 – 9, 2008), to be available for sale right after that from our store, or online: www.dibartoli.com.au/products.asp?cid=40

Itll also be sold from the premises of all other featured businesses in the book.

It is expected to retail for: $29.95, taking orders now. Email / PM / or call us on 02 9389 9892 to register your interest.

We hope youd like the book, we certainly enjoyed contributing to its making...

        Hi Tashie,

As soon as the book is released to our store we will upload some extracts from it on the books page (link above) for you to get an impression of it.

It may not be available in stores in Melbourne, but wed certainly be happy mailing you a copy through our online shop or with a purchase over the phone.

If it would be available later in Melbourne we would publish the information in this thread.
