  • Breville The Bean Keeper 500g vs Airscape Medium

Have anyone tried Breville The Bean Keeper 500g canister? How does that compare to Airscape Medium? It seems pretty much on par from what I see in the pictures and specs. One slight advantage of the Breville I spotted is the ability to hold 500g of beans. The Airscape's specs are dubious and are leaning towards 1lb (spanning from 450g to 500g at different sites). However, dimension-wise, the Breville is even slightly smaller.

Haven't tried it, but yet to see a single bean- including big Pacamara where 500g would not comfortably fit in one of my medium Airscapes.

Had a look. It's the same thing- just rebranded with a Breville price premium on it.

Thanks a lot, Caffeinator, for your response and effort. I really appreciate that.

I also had a look and found that the Bean Keeper is very close but not exactly the same. Yes, it has an Airscape patented inner lid and plastic transparent outer lid, and the canister body is made of stainless steel with the rubber pad. But the steel grade is 18-8 vs 304 in Airscape. 18-8 is a bit less durable (which is probably OK) as well as more prone to rust (which is definitely a minus). The biggest disadvantage of the Breville models though is their inflexibility in capacity options. I realised that if I store all my beans in a single 500g canister and open that every time I make a coffee, it would defeat the purpose of not letting the air in. Possibly, it would be more efficient to split in half and keep 250g in a canister leaving the rest in the original resealable bag with the degassing valve. The latter is as efficient as the canister but much less convenient for the use. Splitting 500g or 1kg in two parts (250g + the rest) might be the most efficient solution.
