    Hi all,

According to our roasting spreadsheet, our total amount of greens roasted just passed 100kg! Hooray... in a completely non-competitive sense, of course!

    Heres to plenty more!
    Cheers
    Stuart.

    Your topic title is misleading.
I thought you had 100kg of greens.
It is not what you have done, but rather how much is in your stash!

You guys must be drinking a lot of coffee, or giving it away. As I recall, you didnt start roasting too long ago.

Myself, I cant plough through enough coffee to keep roasting that often. And none of my friends want free coffee off me. They think its all too hard.

If I was working around the corner of St Ali I am not so sure I would home roast either

I am but a humble beginner at about 30kg with a little over 50kg stashed ;D

What are you crazy tigers doing...since 12.4.07 Andy has had shipped to me 81kgs of beans. I have purchased about 7-9kgs extra (including what was needed for the roast off last year) elsewhere - so at the most 90kg....and I still have probably 8-10kg stashed. Perhaps I need to give more away! That would certainly keep our friends happy.

          Cheers

Hehe, yeah, weve found lots of volunteers who will receive (or even buy) beans from us! Plus we have lots of people come over for coffee. Plus its a share-house anyway. But enough excuses.

We started roasting in about May last year, so were heading for ~130kg for the roasting year. Gives us lots of opportunity to learn and experiment.

As for our stash, its quite modest. Got 25kg at the moment, plus 20kg from the last BeanBay to collect on Friday! Weve reached a point where were happy buying larger amounts of a smaller range of beans now, so that simplifies things...

              Cheers

pretty interesting topic actually and when you look back - scary how much you spend on greens (imagine how much worse if only browns)

I have bought about 50KG and have a stash of about 23kg at the moment. I need to up the coffee intake!

                    Re: 100kg Club

Yeah, the $$ spent on greens is kinda scary too. At somewhere between $10 and $11 per kg (including postage), weve spent $1566.28 on greens (147kg total) since May. Thats $5 a day!! Between 3 people, I should add - and then weve sold maybe 25-30% of what weve roasted. But still.

Hey GM, were approaching 200 roasts, too (10 to go) - got any special beans lined up? :P

                    Cheers

                      An interesting topic.

Ive checked my spreadsheet and am surprised that it says Ive only roasted just shy of 70kg since 26/10/2006.
My stash currently sits at 90kg.

I bought roasted this weeks because my correttos still out of action.
Id better get it up and running again soon.

                        Very impressive Stuart 8-)

I just did the sums too and came up with a figure of just under 200Kg but over a period of more than six years, so to roast about 60% of this in 12 months is pretty awesome in my book.... 8-)

Ive got some Ethiopian Dima wild picked beans that are pretty special, the aroma after they are roasted is amazing and when grinding they fill up the house with amazing aromas. They are brown ugly little things but they are good in the cup!!!

                            Mal,

Given your impressive knowledge of fine tuning roast profiles, Im suprised that youve roasted so little.

I always had the idea you were roasting batches and batches of the same bean, meticulously taking notes on the outcome of each one so you could perfect it.

I suspect Mal roasts smaller batches that most....most of mine for eg are around 800-900grams because we drink a heap of coffee per day.

                              Cheers
