    Re: Yemen Ismail roast...

    Thanks for the advice KK,
I dont have a CS card yet its coming with the bag of Yirg I ordered yesterday
Going from the photo of the card I have on the computer the roast does look like a CS8-9, I think Ive got the roast in the right ballpark.

    cheers,
    bill

    Re: Yemen Ismail roast...

For my personal taste I have found that the Yemen hits its best flavour at 14 days post roast

This of course may not be your experience as we all have different like and dislikes

Also I have followed the recommendations of other CS roasters on a slower & longer roast for these beans
From memory my last roasted Yemen batch was
    FC at 13 min & SC 20 min CS 8.5 to 9

    Thanks flynnaus,
24hrs after the roast and it really smells delicious. Sortof caramelly ;D
Will try it Sunday or Monday. Oh, and I found a couple of small 5mm size black rocks from the small batch I roasted, and a few dry grass strands

Looks yummy. I scored a bag of YBI from Intellidepth (thx ID) but Im willing to wait until I get my corretto sorted before trying to roast it.

Let us know how it develops Bill

    Yemen Ismail roast...

Yesterday I received a 2.5kg snob bag of the Yemen Bani Ismail. (Thanks Poddy66 )
I couldnt wait and roasted a 600gm batch as I only have a few days left of the PNG Peaberry that Im really enjoying. From the few different beans Ive tried so far the PNG is my fave. In a few days Ill try this Yemen to see what its all about.
Picture of the Yemen roast attached. In my corretto it took 13mins to FC and then another 5 mins to SC. Pulled them just on the start of the beginning of SC with a bit of smoke. Another thing I noticed is that the cracks for this bean were not as distinctive as some of the other beans. Thanks for looking and to the regular posters for this informative website.
    bets wishes,
    Bill
