  • First Roast and Post

Hey all, Tried out my first roast with a popcorn maker. Looks and smells great, just cant wait to try it. Has anyone had any experience with Costa Rica RFA. never tasted it before and wondering what to expect.
After 1st roast i got a roasting from the wife and bannished to the shed for future roasting for smoking out the house totally and covering the room with charf . Very excited though.

Havent used that bean before but would have loved to have seen pictures of the smoke haze from your roasting.
No wonder your wife unit went balistic, i was never even game to try it inside and opted for the garage first off.

I feel ya pain , but had to laugh ;D ..... would have loved to be a fly on the wall , in that smokey kitchen.

I was in trouble today cause there was washing on the line 15m away, with smoke blowing in the opposite direction..... God what was I thinking ....!!!

;D ;D ;D Look on the bright side your first roast wasnt 500g in a Corretto inside Feed her some of the beans later in the week and you might be forgiven, still banished to the shed but forgiven

If the shed is a problem in winter there is a few shots here of flexible ducting through windows etc.

If the beans got to around 2nd crack and took 6 or 7 minutes + then it should be a good start 8-)

Thats pretty much exactly what happened, second crack + about 15-20 seconds was about 6 1/2 mins. Wife burned banana bread she was baking thismorning so that has taken the smell of my efforts out of the place now. And given me some leverage ;D
