Yeah, its bean ;D an interesting ride. The one constant is the willingness to help and generosity of people on this forum, and others associated with the bean. Theres no way I would have got to this point otherwise. 8-)

    Cheers

The baby is home!  Really big thank you to Anger Management for his loving and caring approach to tutorials. Plug it in, press this button, now while I head downstairs to see my visitors...you take over.    The waters deep, but you only have to worry about the sharks up the far end of the pool...just flail your arms and swimming will come naturally.

Seriously, anyone thinking of giving roasting a go but are being held back by apprehension......go for it. Fear of stuffing up or procrastination....dont worry about it, just dive in. Really appreciated AMs demonstration, showed there really IS nothing to fear.  Plus the chance to catch up with another Snobber and enjoy a coffee as well is always a bonus. Thanks mate.

    ROFLMFAO...

Trouble is, that other than a few choice words... That is exactly what Happened ;D

He even took home the result of 250g of green beans.. And to a large extent can say they are his.. First Roast...

MP and I had a chat and I reminded him of his first call for assistance to CS and that I dropped over... Needless to say I left suggesting old store bought beans and his setup was not quite the tools to have.. : :-[

Now here we are a little further down teh track... He has a EM6910, popper, HT Roaster and enjoys a few coffee houses and cupping... He also has a stash of Green beans...

See what can happen with a little guidance and support of like minded people..

    Well done MP

As always, you are more than welcome to come in and do a practise roast on my hot top and use what you need so you dont have to eat into your stash while youre getting used to the roasting - plus I owe you a swap anyway!!!....Nice stash by the way - you have been squirrelling away some nice origins - great work!!

    Happy Roasting!!!

    May the Obsession begin!!!!   ;D

    Cheers

Thanks for the tips. Its been brilliant being able to check back through old threads here, you couldnt put a price on the experience thats in these pages. Prob. gonna sit on the starter pack beans, theres only 500gm of each. Have got some Mex. Tapachula from BeanBay, Im leaning to starting with that one.

I have roasted the Huey in a popper and found it quite easy and very enjoyable. I stopped it just after 2nd crack.

I would suggest that you dont start with the expensive beans, like the Yemen or the MTE.
Not sure about all the beans you have there, but can confirm that generally Indian and Mexican beans seem to be relatively forgiving to get a satisfactory roast.
Suggest you also start with something that you have enough of to try about three roasts so that you can try different total times, to help you get a feel for the roaster, and the type of roast you like out of it.

i don`t know if the mexican organic is the same as the Mexican RFA.
But i have tried as a dark roast and a medium roast and it taste s good bothe ways- different but good.
It seems to lend itself to a short hot roast or a slower one.
But i only have a popper and could be wrong

Yeah, just teasing madpierre - I certainly didnt use it as my first roast...

Funny how its so much easier to tell someone else to dive from the high platform... ;D

Being a hottop I am sure your maiden voyage will be a beauty anyway.

    Happy roasting mate  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
