I just bought an i-Roast (version 1?). My problem in roasting is that I am not getting any cracking sounds consistently. Maybe 1 out of 5-6 roasts will I get cracks. So I have been judging the roasts by color. I have used both the presets that come with the i-Roast as well some roasts times that I have seen posted at this site.
The beans that I have tried are Mandheling, Guatermala Coban-El Tirol and Harrar.Using an amount of ~150 grams.
One interesting aspect is that I did have a problem with a loose chaff collector lid and base which I corrected use Sweet Marias directions. Before the problem was fixed I WAS getting goods cracks!. Since I corrected the looseness the cracks semed to have disappeared!
Should I loosen things up again?
