Hi All
I have jumped over to the brown (dark side), I think I said in one of my early posts that I would probably not be getting into that home roasting thing as I was happy to find a good brand and stick with it…..guess what? Yes after reading Andy’s article in Bean Scene on home roasting I ordered his starter pack and stopped into the local OP-SHOP and got a B&D popper. My first roast was more of a cremation and tasted a little on the burnt side; I did another batch today and does look much better. Does anyone else have any experience with times on the B&D, mine is ready in 4 minutes, this seems way too fast however they look ok. With this sort of time I really can’t distinguish between FC & SC or if I am even getting to SC, I do have lots of smoke so I guess I am where I need to be. The sort of flavour I am looking for is the “dark roast” from Danes coffee shop if anyone has ever tried that, so I would be happy if someone could let me know what would be the best Green to get that sort of flavour? (Andy any suggestions?)
