thanks for the suggestions - hubby took them a little far last time (groan!) and I agree with your findings. Will give your timings a go - it might be on the last 250 grams though!!
    Always happy to be adventurous.

I call this bean my nemesis but with time its become one of my favourites. I find it needs a lot of attention after FC to keep the roast from running away or stalling.

I currently prefer a quicker ramp to First Crack (9-10min) followed by a slower ramp to second crack, but I stop the roast a couple of degrees BEFORE second crack at about a CS 8/9. This enhances the blueberry flavours. It does work as a darker roast though I found it quickly turned a bit ashy if pushed into rolling second crack.

others recommend a blend by roast some light and some dark and then blending.

try a couple of profiles and roast depths and see how you like it.

Ethiopian Harrar Longberry - Gene Cafe

we have been enjoying this bean lately and missed out on getting more from bean bay.

The profile we used for the Gene Cafe was

    160 x 5 mins
    240 x 3.5 mins
245 until FC at 12.5 mins then decreasing 5 degress per min until 230 degress ending the roast at 18 mins.

The reason for increasing to 245 degrees was that there was a cool wind affecting the ramp.

Loved the flavour and texture both in milk and espressos

Working...
