    Re: Ugandan Masaba AA

I roasted this up for some friends... medium to dark roast - some described it as earthy and a bit chocolatey others thought it was lovely and sweet and want more... and both of those tried it black and as flat white... Hmmmm, :-)
The bag of this AA that I got had the most defects of any green bean purchased so far. Might have to try it again sometime if it returns to BeanBay.

Ric roasted this recently and it is just exquisite - when I think of how best to describe it, I have to say that if you dont like coffee then drink this. The chocolate come moccha taste is just delicious,

I taste is for so long after the laste drop is drained

I think you get the picture!!

PSS, tried another shot this morning, little overextracted, but still a great buttery mouthfeel, im finding that this bean is very active, requiring a fair amount of grinder adjustment through the day.....

Oh I thought tht was just me getting used to the grinder, and it probably is to some degree, but now I wont be quite so harsh on myself.

Last cup consumed this morning - will be roasting more this weekend.

    Hi all

Just roasted this last night in a 2kg Has Garanti. Did a 1kg load, drop temperature of 175C, FC at 9.0 mins and 202C, stopped right at SC at 14 mins and 224C. Looks like its CS level 10.

Smells great but now to await for a few days. I hope I get choc notes like you guys did above.

    Mike

This is a great little bean, i roasted 600gm of this yesterday to Rolling sc, fc at 12 mins rolling sc at 18.

As with all new beans that i havent tried, i try a shot everyday to see how it develops...... i cracked it day one, beautiful honey malt choc aroma as a latte, with almost maple syrup after taste....although it is still a little green.....will post day 7

    First post here

Interesting that you got chocolate - so did I.
I just did a coretto roast of the Ugandan: reached 1st crack at 12 and 2nd at 15. Tasting the bean gave me a hit of berry/chocolate (with the berry not unlike that blueberry kick of Harrar, but another berry I just cant put my finger on). The aftertaste was a combo of chocolate and honey. If the beans taste this good straight after a roast - I cant wait til degas time is over   What do you guys reckon - wait 7 days like the Harrar? Any suggestions?
Welcome to CS (even though youve been here too long)!! ;D ;D ;D
If you have got enough to stretch out over a couple of weeks, try them all the way through and see whats best! Also, was there any evidence of tipping or divots? Might be worth trying to stretch out the time between FC and SC a little

started a topic Ugandan Masaba AA

    Ugandan Masaba AA

Have just opened this for consumption 7 days post roasting in the Gene. It was my "oh if you must" purchase that grabbed the old mans attention on the latest Bean Bay.

The verdict? Delicious only to get better as I get used to my new grinder. I have never noticed such a pronounced chocolate after taste as with this bean. A nice even roast, FC at 13.5 and stopped at 18.

Should I perhaps aim for a slightly earlier first crack?
Working...
