My first efforts today, I am rapt in the results.
Brand new popper for $12 at Cash Converters- WIN!
1st effort in the morning, just under 1/2 cup of Vietnam. 3.0 min 1st crack, 2nd crack finished at 5 min. Dumped and cooled. Repeated with another 3/8 cup at the same timeframe, except still in 2nd crack when I dumped @ 5 Min.
This evening I roasted some India. This time I used exactly 1/2 cup and had to help it agitate for the first minute. First crack at 2:45 and I dumped just into 2nd crack. Repeated this as well.
So I now have two labeled jars containing roasts, that I will seal after 12 hours of venting and then re-open and sample in 2 days.
For what its worth, Ive found that if I roast a batch of something cheap along with whatever else Im roasting, I can drink that first in the coming days and accept the fact that its not primo coffee. Then, when I switch over to the good stuff it is that much more amazing.
Well J-Rod - thats my input. As an old Italian lady told me as we were discussing moka pots: take it with a grain of salt.
