Hi guys....have a headache over my roasting efforts!
Using a popcorn maker with side vents. Silvia with Sunbeam EM0480.
Had the grind set to the finest setting and extractions were generally VERY FAST with a glass full of creama which disappears moments later to nothing. No body, coffee colur is light brown, creama is yellow. They have been degassing for about 20hrs. i was dying to try them. didnt think they would come out this bad.
When using Columbian the grind is very yellow as is the panama special. I finished roasting the columbians after the 1st crack to try a lighter roast. I previously did another batch which were darker and extractions were much better. Can i reroast the the lighter batch??
The Brazilian i roasted darker and it comes out a little better.
The El Salvador Organic is SOOO potent i have to blend it with others to be able to enjoy it but stil lack body and creama.
Roasting times average about 10-15min.

. You really need to get yourself a good tamper though, the plastic ones just dont cut it.
. Id say your roast(s) in this instance was way too short and that the beans hadnt even roasted all the way through. All your coffee should exit the grinder as a rich dark, red-ish brown colour all the way through with the odd fleck of ground chaff here and there. Hate to imagine what brews made with this coffee tasted like..... Yech! Anyway, it sounds like youre nearly there with the results of your re-roasted beans, 20 seconds for a pour isnt too bad at all. If you try the alternative dosing method suggested above its possible you may well achieve 25-30 second pours and be well on your way to achieving the occasional God-Shot
