  • Home roasting database

Hi all- have grabbed a copy of this nice looking database which may be of interest. Wonder if it works??? You can supposedly log pretty much everything including inventory, roast details, blends and a whole heap of other things. It runs in MS access and is about 0.5MB....avalook if you feel inclined.... http://improbablystructuredlayers.ne...B/CRDBHome.htm  NOw...time to experiment

Hhhmmm...Ill have to check that out. Ive been using an Access/Excel database/form I made to track my roasting. Ive ended up not using a lot of the fields I originally put in and adding others.

Nice database set-up indeed. Now to mod it to track a few more things. ;D

I found another Roasting Database program searching the web.

this is not long upgraded and also has a cupping database as well. Thought someones else might find this useful.

oh wow, thats just awesome, thanks for the links! I was going to try and build something like this in openoffice but it would have been pretty rural compared to this.

not too much existing data to transfer from spreadsheets and Im pretty sure itll be worth it.

No, its a Microsft Access database so Windows and MS Office only Im afraid.

The second database is JAVA based so will work on most anything I would think.

                  Cheers

This works fine on on my Macbook Pro with an Intel processor. Had some problems at first getting it to run as I didnt have the right Java Runtime Environment priority set but now its all working fine. Im loving this software!

                      Re: Home roasting database

only thing im not liking is that you cant manually input the times for the roas session (or have I missed something). Under the "Sessions" form, easy enough to select the inventory, amount and set roast level, but if you want to record the timing of the roast, you have to simulate the roast again (unless ofcourse you have this running on a laptop and activate it as you roast)

Im not sure what you mean Sen. I input all the data as I go, with a pen and paper for backup in case it all gets too exciting. I know that not everyone has a laptop they can take to where they roast, but regardless of what spreadsheet or software youre using, if you dont log the data as you go, arent you essentially "simulating the roast" again every time you enter the data post-roast?

                        apologies if Ive misunderstood.
