Was having a discussion with the wife about home roasting. She is against it for several reasons.
1. We live in a townhouse, so shes not sure how the neighbours will react to someone roasting coffee at home (read smoke and noise).
2. We dont buy enough roasted coffee to take advantage of discounts for buying in bulk.
3. The inherent costs for home roasting (machine outlay not included) i.e. power consumption, cost of beans that have to be thrown out because of failure, etc., might be more than what it costs for already roasted beans.
Could someone please explain the pros and cons, along with some sort of comparison of the costs involved?

Should have seen the guy in the stores face when I asked him if he could demonstrate it for us :P
