    Re: Breville Crazy Popper

"I dont block the exhaust off completely ..."

Well yes that bit I did entirely in the interests of scientific investigation as
it was the first time Id tried (and the process is supposed to be pyrolitic, right )

I was however surprised by how quickly temps a) went past what is desirable for a roast and
    b) approached the combustion point of the beans. Fireworks ahead ...

However I was curious to know whether suitable subtle adjustments of a covering
might be usable in making a "temp profile". I think not, as its all too fast and the
effects of the covering are difficult to quantify / predict.

Hey, this might be a stupid question... but what does a popper need an exhaust for? is it used to release the chaff?

Hey Coffee Kid- the exhaust tip is used to increase the batch size....and also because we all know that every popper craves a bit of bling 8-)

                I dunno?

Cant see anything wrong with my tattered, weather-beaten old Heinz soup tin myself .... adds a certain character to an otherwise bland and ordinary looking kitchen appliance without the bling perspective taking over ,

I noted there is much talk about measuring the heat in the popper - what type of thermometer do you use for this and where can you get them?
                                thanks
