Mate - that looks the goods! One of the advantages of the BM that I have is that the beans, even one KG of them are contained well within the box (in a box...) and with a KG in particular the mass is higher than it is wide, so it retains heat very well, but even then with a big bad Makita HG I have to be very careful at around the FC not to let it slow down too much and that means getting the HG tip very very close to the mass for a couple of mins...but I havent got tipping with this gun (perhaps the ceramics make a difference here). I suspect however that with an open set up like yours you could still do one kg but would need to either stick on a cover, or better still use 2 heat guns, with one on a constant half power say from say 8 mins into the roast and then playing with the other to fine tune the roast from there. Might we see a twin system on the V2?
