  • Re: Whats in my coffee roaster this week

Ran out of coffee and time so just pre blended 1/3 of each Colombian Volcan/Yemen Bani/Sumatran Sipangan.
24 hours out and just a small pour over tastes very promising 8-)

In the roaster: Costa Rican Anonos HB Roasted just beyond 1st crack and pulled at 211c on the Hottop readout.

My intentions for this are for a plunger. Didnt get around to using it today but i intend on tasting it while its still super fresh...then leave it 2 weeks and try it again. Not sure what to expect at week 2 but if its not to my taste at that stage ill blend it with some dark roasted rubusta for another experiment.

            Hi all

In the roaster this arvo was 1kg of Ethiopian Limmu Organic (September 2008 batch).
I stopped just before SC. Looks like it will be a CS 10 level of roast. Last time I roasted this bean was in my GeneCafe so will be interesting to taste the difference.
Roaster is a 2kg gas Has Garanti.

Details: Drop temp 155C (went down to 180C so next time a higher drop temp), then FC at 9 mins, ended at 17.5 mins, probably just before SC.

                  Should that have been 18C?
Also seems that you are racing to 1st crack and then only just in front of a stall to second crack. Maybe take a little heat out of start-1st then add a little more from 1st-2nd. I think the results will improve.

I was surprised at the generosity of a fellow CSer
                        DomK

He gifted me some Nicaragua del Cielo Cup of Excellence
                        Thanks Dom [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Guess what I did as Soon as I got home

                        I roasted a 700gr batch of them
[Nicaragua del Cielo Cup of Excellence]

Very easy to roast on the KKTO and probably one of the easiest beans I have ever roasted

Just have to wait a few days to degas for a heavenly sip

The photo will tell you how nice it turned out

                              Thanks Andy,

Yes 180C is an error, it dropped down to 80C. Ill try a slower ramp to FC next time then by turning down the heat a bit earlier.

                                China Yunnan Hougu (full washed)
                                3 cups (500grm?) I need some scales....
went into RSC and pulled about 215c
                                corretto roaster

not sure about this roast....... bit of tipping

I find the center of some of these beans seem to blow out when i roast them. (the bit where that little bit of chaff is left behind)
                                any thoughts on this issue?
