Most people have a Blower.
Noisy bloody things…but useful.
Here is the best use for your underutilised blower.
Cut 2 holes in an old table and run a 100mm sewer pipe under table to connect the two holes. Cut and mount a black plant tub with a wire mesh basked on top of one hole and place the blower on the other hole. Transferring the suction to the basket.
Cut another piece of 100 pipe to resemble a fan shape to spread the suction more evenly around the underside of basket. Works a treat.
Lowers beans within 10-15 seconds to about 50deg C.

Roasting Station MK111
(beginning to look like a Beastery)
Loving the heads-up bean display Sando! You and the hot-glue gun must have bean working overtime to get the beans in place during that roast! ;D
And loving the quick-draw second gun (or is it temp guage?) All ready for action!

No thats not a HG in my pocket its an IR Thermo. Raynger ST20 from Raytek.
When I first started roasting it was my only way of telling the temp (and not a bad way at that).
I still use it to take the "top" temp and RML Data logger does the bottom temp (bean mass).
See pic of temps of one of the roasts that I have enjoyed the most (#30).
I assume that the beans are absorbing the heat quickly at min 2-4 then setttle down to similar rate between the 2 methods of getting temps.
Built it into/onto a mechanics trolley. Standard exhaust fan/Bunnings bucket cooler system sits in a hole cut in the top shelf. First 2 switches from left for cooler and breadmaker, via sockets mounted inside top shelf. The other 3 switches are for the heat gun; on/off, full/cut, -7%/-15%. Power cut is achieved by a transformer whose secondary "bucks" the voltage to the heat gun.
The rest is pretty much as per post #21 above.
Yes it has been "PAT" tested, and yes I am qualified to do this stuff. I also only power it via a safety switch.

Time to resurrect an old(er) thread.

Slightly jealous...my setup is very ordinary compared to most.
Tell me about it... I have to keep dismantling mine after every use... We have hardly any room on our balcony... The bean cooler has to live under my desk... Ah well. The lengths we go to for our coffee...
Hi
Thought i would post a photo of my setup, nothing really different to what other members have already done before just a few little things I have done differently that may be of interest, like the adjustable heat gun stand for members that are using a gun that requires them to adjust the height of gun and the heat gun cooling. The bread-maker has had the element removed and i have insulated the pan with a fire blanket and moved the heat sensor away from the pan, i do not remove the pan to empty beans out I just lift the whole bread-maker and tip the beans into the cooler. I use the cooler fan to blow cool air onto the heat gun ( i need to find some bigger diameter hose to replace the vacuum cleaner hose I am using) The heat gun stand is adjustable, I have made it out handle of a vacuum cleaner that i found on the street through out. I don't really need to adjust the height as i have a heat gun that the temp is adjustable. The cooler sieve is made from a aluminum lid cutout and the mesh i used is for cooking chips in the oven on. (I have posted info in the section about building your own bean cooler)

Welcome TJM
Nice setup! Very similar setup to mine - same BM & gun. Those Bosch guns are precision bits of gear!
I'm just about to hardwire my breville - the touchpad is almost clapped out - but I'm getting awesome results now. Although It has taken 18 months to get my input temp profile nailed though :-)
Happy roasting!
Matt
Here's my station,I use my old BBQ which I have taken the hotplates and burners out to lighten it up,Makes it easier to wheel in and out of the shed for roasting.
