Re: Behmor 1600 profiles
Hello all,
I have also bought a behmor from Andy this year. Previous to the behmor I was roasting in a popcorn roaster for 5 months. With both the behmor and popcorn roaster I have found that the outside air temp and conditions can dramatically affect roasting.
My first roast in the behmor was on a cold windy day and with 1lb, p2, c selected I did not reach second crack even with the max extra time added. The next attempt on a hot day I reached second crack with time to spare.
One of the forums I read suggested using the 1LB, P2, C profiles and then just adjusting the size of the batch you are roasting until you are happy with the settings. When I reach 2nd crack press cool, open the door (and leave it open) and remove the chaff tray. With a closed door the cooling cycle continues cooking the beans for nearly a minute.
So far I have been very happy with the machine, nicely made, very quiet and no problems hearing 1st and 2nd crack.
