Had the same problem with mine a couple of years back, drilled through the paddle and shaft and put a split pin through it, has not moved since.

just the paddle (part that surrounds the shaft), which looks to be aluminium, and as you screw in the bolt/grub screw it presses against the side of the shaft
Ahhhh yes - that would work too. I was thinking of going into the top of the shaft. But there seems to be plenty of meat in the paddle unit for tapping the hole through the side for the grub… good plan

Good thinking re the shim, quicker and easier to my idea. I wasnt meaning to drill into the shaft, just the paddle (part that surrounds the shaft), which looks to be aluminium, and as you screw in the bolt/grub screw it presses against the side of the shaft.

    Cheers

Thanks guys. I tried DesigningByCoffees idea. I was only able to get a metal paper clip down in there and hammer the paddle back into place.

Well see how long it lasts.

I havent ever had the paddle come off mid-roast, but it has kept dropping into the cooler which is pretty annoying. I considered the grub screw option too, but thought Id struggle drilling the (most likely) hardened shaft without a drill press.
So yesterday I just sacrificed the metal clip from the lid of a felt tip pen, cut a 15mm length, and used it as a shim against the flat keyway - and low & behold - a perfect press fit! Only required light taps from a hammer to slide it on, and its not coming off again in a hurry!
Just be sure to support the stirrer assembly underneath, or you can tap out the whole thing through the teflon bush…
Now lets see if it all expands at different rates and cracks the paddle… ;D

Would hazard a guess it has to do with legal chemicals that require some sort of doctors report to obtain?

Same thing happened to me last roast, only I wasted 620grams

I plan to drill and tap the side of the paddle through to the hole where the spindle sits and insert a grub screw/bolt to secure it.

    Cheers

From bread makers I have seen, paddles are usually held on by a cir-clip. If your BM has one, perhaps its broken or needs to be replaced.

I wouldnt be gluing it back on.

Heat & Food safe supper glue

    Hi Fellow Roasters.

The mixing paddle in my bread maker keeps working its way off mid roast. I would have picked it up and thrown it in the bin if it wasnt so hot. I just wasted 400 grams of good beans!!!

Can anyone point me in the direction of a heat & food safe super glue?

    Thanks.

    Mike
