Ive been roasting with the same Kambrook/wooden spoon setup for a year now and it has done MANY MANY MANY batches without missing a BEAT. So much so that I was in GoodGuys today and saw they had a stack of them in the aisle for $19.95....

I nearly bought a spare one just in case mine ever does die. But ironically the reason I was going to GG was to check out mini ovens with rotisseries as possibles for modding into coffee roaster.
I made this decision after roasting 11 x 160gram batches in the Kambrook yesterday and thinking there must be a better way to roast MORE per turn.

Now Im leaning towards a BM/HG setup if I can score a BM for free or cheap. Reading here that they can handle +600g batches easily. That would be sweet. ;D

But the Kambrooks are great poppers. I roast back-to-back for 1-2 hrs in mine regularly. And by b-2-b, I mean turn off, empty beans into cooler, pour in new batch, turn on again, all within 20 seconds. Rinse and Repeat.

ahh.. icic. thats more like the ball park im experiencing depending on the bean though. sometimes it can be "5 mins and its all over - rolling 2nd" !

wondering what the shorter periods do for the tasting of the bean though. hmm...

I was worried it wouldnt make it to 2nd crack.

When the weathers warmer, Im usually around the 6-7 minute mark.

9 minutes isnt too bad for a popper :
agreed, its much better than another one (a mistral) ive had - 5-6mins flat out the one im talking about is the B&D popper. the 9 mins was the longest ive ever gotten on any roast (it was PNG peaberry on a fairly mild evening - melbourne summer evening that is ).

heard others had more success with it than ive experienced... like 15 mins

nunu, thats a decent roast time. id be stoked with that!
