Tried a popper in Darwin; first crack at 120sec.

    Not a good result.

I feel your pain. Accidentally messed up my PID controller output on Sunday and ended up with a CS9/10 in 3 1/3 mins.

        Only about 14mins early...

On the plus side, the 3 roasts that followed were great!

We must be made of tougher stuff here in VIC

I just completed 11 batches in an unairconditioned shed where the ambient temp started off at 39C and ended up at 43.8C

            Same here,
Did 3 roasts last night in the garage with ambient temp around 34C.
With the help of PID, things went quite smooth and predictable.

I guess if I had to I would, not a business requirement so not necessary.

Spent the early morning watering and setting up shade so the tomato's don't cook on the vine.

As a matter of interest the temp in my un air conditioned shed about an hour ago was 51° bloody north wind blowing like a furnace.

Sounds like there won't be too many lattes made then.

One advantage of living at (by Aus. standards) a little altitude is that the night time temperature ain't too bad here....even in heatwaves. I think we got down to 15 or so every night during the last one when the days were b/w 39-41.

Believe it or not we had a cool change come through a bit over an hour ago, just checked the thermometer its dropped to 25°, very unusual, not complaining.

Is the HWP cancelled now? Gunna crank up the roaster for a batch or two?

Nope, still recovering, enjoying a gin and tonic right now, roasting tomorrow, perhaps, I'm OK for a few more days.

Gonna try and beat the heatwave before it gets up our way this time, probably tomorrow...

Roasting in 40+C is no fun at all, even in an open shed. Can empathise with you guys...

                          Mal.
