    Morning all

Here's some before and after shots of my espresso. It's Costa Rica Santa Rosa Trapiche 1900. Flavour is orangey and floral. Citrus acidity, light-medium body. Roasted on a gene

        Well done!
I thought last year about having a go, but completely forgot - and there didn't seem to be many ripples about it this year on CSs beforehand …
So will need to set my ical to go hunting in September 2015

Congratulations to you also, especially keeping it SO!

Have not seen any placings for the home roasting yet, they will probably get around to it in the coming days? I must admit I am keen to see how far behind you I am in the Espresso.

          Cheers

And a big congrats to Andy... Bronze for 'Decaf Wow' - Decaf Latté Class and a Silver for 'Organic @ Origin' Organic Espresso Class

and a bronze in the pour-over class with 'Pale Gesha'.

Awesome to see our grand poo bah performing strongly and continuing to back up his overall win a couple of years ago.

            Well done Andy.

Anyone wishing to recreate a similar winning blend using greens from BeanBay.
All weights mentioned are post roast.
              Solid drum, Quest M3

You really need Guatemala Jacaltenango or similar for the base, such a great bean!
At a guess from the description, with what's available now you could use CoffeeSnobs - BeanBay - Green Coffee - Costa Rica Santa Elena Tarrazu
Roast about 16min, a good 5°C from starting second crack. 250g

CoffeeSnobs - BeanBay - Green Coffee - Sumatran Mandheling Jade
17.5min roast, 1°C from starting second crack, a couple of pops coming out into cooling tray. 150g

CoffeeSnobs - BeanBay - Green Coffee - Ethiopian Harrar Longberry
14.5min roast, 8 to 9°C from starting second crack. 100g

Similarly I'm interested in if I got a placing in the milk class. Thought my Ethiopia/El Sal /Panama blend was my best entry, but maybe it bombed. Used 3 naturals so it was as funky as James Brown's underpants

                            Awesome results.
Congrats to all that had a go and don't be too upset if you didn't score a gong... competitions can be like that if what you produced didn't tick the right boxes on the day.

I was at the presentation and I knew about the two winners (Instagram'd it from the venue) and contacted Steve82 on the night but I didn't know which Richard Davies (surprisingly common name for a CoffeeSnob!) so congrats to you too trickydicky.

Great to see you guys pipped my kids this year, they were getting a little cocky but their real motivation was to beat each other more than anyone else. I found out the kids placings late that night but didn't know all the others so that's great to see so many familiar names in the list. Kevin was good enough to get the kids medals to me on the night so I could bring them home, as you would expect they were seriously excited when I got off the plane!

I don't have their blends / origins or techniques with me but I'll find out their stories and will post it up in this thread when I can so others can give their roasts a crack if they like.

                            Congrats again to everyone!

                              Penny just dropped.... thanks Andy.

Awesome result for you, Steve! Congratulations!!

You guys are really firing, and reaping the rewards of your persistence and passion for great coffee at home.

I'd love to know where the judges thought these home roasts would sit in the commercial side of the comp; my guess....

punching well above their weight and taking it right up to the big boys and girls with their big budgets, fancy roasters ;-) and

trips to origin to find the 'best beans'. ;-)

Lucky for us we have Andy doing the ground work, sourcing awesome coffee greens.
