Heatsnob temp probe fitment

Hell all,


Can someone help me out with the fitment of the heatsnob probe to my Behmor.
Holes are drilled as per template ( 4mm outer 3mm inner) but i am a little perplexed as to what the 4mm hole is all about.
The threaded part of the probe is 6mm and the flex shroud is 4.3mm.

Its been a long day so i don't want to assume anything just yet and fit it by drilling bigger holes or anything silly like that.

Any help is appreciated.

Look at the bright side! You didn't drill a hole that is too BIG like some people are known to have done. Carefully make the hole bigger to fit the probe.

So is it supposed to be screwed in from the outside of the panel? i.e.drill a 5.5mm hole and screw it in?

Too late - big hole now drilled...about to start roast and check:{

the hole should provide enough give to provide a thread support. if it is too big it will end up loose.

have you tried inserting the probe and seeing if it screws in with a bit of persuasion?

I am thinking that the 4mm outer hole must have provided support for a smaller dia threaded section.
All good - probe works and sits proud only about 3-5mm on the inside.
Now for the cheap laptop - running a 10m USB cable to my PC provides plenty of trip hazards

Don't worry. You are not the first person to discover the hole is way too small to be usable. It does cause people confusion when they follow the instructions and it doesn't work. As you found out, it needs to be drilled out bigger.
