I have a lid - I use the original breadmaker lid. It had a glass panel so I knocked it out and I stick the heat gun in the hole.
Thinking it it may help us i insulate the breadmaker part with oven insulation.

You don't need to removed the element if it's not in the way. Do you have a lid?Originally posted by Budgiesmuggler View PostYes I’ve done all those things.
ive insulated the bread pan. Should I also insulate the space they the bread pan sits in to try and reduce heat getting to other parts of the machine?
I have not removed the heating element. Should I do that?
Any insulation will help, but if you're still having issues with insulation it may be the design of the BM, which would require some more hefty electrical mods. Mine's a Breville BBM100 which just seems to be a great, reliable, easy to mod machine. I can't kill it – I have all the bits to build a newer flasher one but it just won't die!

I suggest you have a read through here.... Home Roasting - Tips, Tricks, Ideas
I cant say you will find everything you need but I found it helpful when i first used the BM method, that was 2011, so im sure there is more info available now.
Some bread makers work differently to others, I had some good some bad over the time. It takes some trial and error to get them to work consistently sometimes.

So you've unscrewed the little tab in the pan shroud, wrapped it & tucked it back away from the main pan assembly, maybe under the control panel? This is certainly the first step.Originally posted by Budgiesmuggler View PostAny comments on how I can keep it cool during roast to try and avoid it shutting off?
Ive isolated the Heat sensor on the bread pan so I think it must have another thermostat on the controls
The next step is to remove the element (to give you extra room and fewer snags) and then insulate the actual pan with fire blanket. This keeps a lot of heat out of the actual breadmaker unit, and also means you're going to need far less heat going in from the gun to get a similar roast profile. Win / win!
There is a heat sensor built into the control board itself I think. But with these two things above done you should be good. I've only had mine shutoff once since I've modded it like above (about 5-6 years ago) – and that was after 5x 750g roasts back-to-back in December!
Cheers Matt

You would need to know how it is "programmed" and more importantly where all the sensors are. It is obviously sensing heat when it shouldn't (in breadmaking) so turns it off. There may be one on the circuit board?
Best way is as mentioned above by others, get someone competent to modify it so the paddle motor operates independently. This should be quick and easy.
Cheers

You'll probably need someone who is competent working on electrical appliances take a look and modifying it, ie; wire up the motor directly to a switch bypassing the breadmaker controls.

Breadmaker shutoff
My breadmaker needs to cool after each roast often for up to half an hour.
Also, Sometimes my breadmaker will shut off mid roast for being too hot.
Can I do anything about this? It frustrates me so much i hardly roast any more.Tags: None
