Okaaaaay.... please feel free to point and laugh XD
When I received the Heatsnob, the ends were in the wrong plugs (red in black plug and viceversa), so it was indeed going backwards in temp hahaha
Problem solved.... WOW, lesson learned..

Hmmm trying my Heatsnob which I recently bought, so I'm very much a noob to using it... And it's spiking to over 2000°C!!!!! I have no idea what's going on...
It's recording normal air temp at a pretty steady 30ish degrees. But when I put the probe in the roaster and start it, the temp starts DROPPING downwards, until it reaches 0°C, then it jumps right up to over 2000°, and over the course of the roast it just steadily declines....??
I have a feeling it's set on opposite direction or something (and that the 2000° are indeed showing the minuses probably...).. because if I clasp my hand around he Heatsnob the temp decreases (when it should increase...).
Does anyone have any advice pretty please... I don't know how to change the setting on the software.. yikes haha
I'd really appreciate your wisdom, thanks so much in advance!

An update on the temperature ...
Heatsnob fitted and after a little issue the temperatures now recorded are in the range of 304-324 degrees C.
That is with 250g of beans loaded and roasted.
No panic here ... it is consistent and after all it is just a measure of the air temperature just outside the drum.
The roasts I have completed (using one origin) have all been consistent in both time and temperature settings and have produced the goods in flavour. Yay
Evenly roasted, consistent first and second cracks .... what more could you wish for ..... a bean temp modification ..... hmmm .....
Point taken from previous sage words ... consistency is key .....
Thanks all ....

Victor 88B wasn't an accurate meter. When we used Victor meters here it was a different model and we had the factory customise the output so it worked better in this heat range but even so, the only reason we designed the HeatSnob was because it was better than any of the Victor meters.
Grab yourself a HeatSnob, works a treat.

Normal for air temp to be higher than expected bean temp. Pretty sure when I tried an empty roast the bean temp went above 300. Will need to check my logs.
Cheers

Behmor 1600+ Does 324 degrees C Sound excessive
Good afternoon wise ones,
I have a Behmor with the probe mounted from the side as per the template, hooked to a Victor 88B and laptop.
Interesting I noticed the probe temp launch into the stratosphere on a 200g P3B roast.
On inspection I notice the hole drilled through the inner wall provided an interference fit on the probe.
Heat sink issue I thought.
Opened the hole up a mil or so, so that the probe does not touch the inner wall and voila ... same result.
Roast monitor is set up correctly, the Victor is set up correctly.
Can anyone please provide same sage advice.
Many thanksTags: None
