  • Best Sample roaster

    Dear Coffee Snobs,

Soon my Giesen WA15 will arrive. I have not purchased a sample roaster yet. In short, what are my cheapest options for the purpose of examining small samples. Would the Huky be good. Please advice me on my options. It is very much appreciated.o

If you are after a simple roaster just for sample roasts to evaluate green coffee, an Ikawa could be worth a look - electric sample toaster controlled by an app. The Pro version is quite expensive but I believe they have just released a home version that would be perfectly suitable.

I'd never heard of Ikawa before. Had a look at the website and its a very interesting piece of equipment. Roasting chamber appears something like cross between a popcorn machine and bread maker. The app does something similar to Heatsnob software. Overall it looks awesome.....but very expensive. The 'home' device is equivalent of AU$2400. They have a 220v-240v version but it says they only ship to Europe and North America.

Could also be a window into the next generation of Heatsnob for the Behmor. Bluetooth enabled device feeding to an iPad app.
