Just thought Id let anyone know who is thinking of taking the plunge, that the Hearthware Precision home coffee roaster beats heat-gun and popcorn popping hands-down!
And although it roasts only half a cup of beans at a time, thats no problem as theres only about 20 minutes between roasts (full cycle of roasting and cooling), and I just spend a couple of minutes every half hour unloading, brushing out the chaff and refilling, while Im doing other things. In one leisurely morning or evening, for a total time of about 10 of my work-minutes, I can roast enough beans for a fortnight.
Im using right now a blend of premium Brazilian daterra beans and the result, with the Precision, is smooth and sweet. Best yet in fact, since I started home-roasting.
I think my machine, judging from US reviews, is an early-model Precision with a mechanical timer-dial -- the later one has, I think, a digital timer. Doesnt worry me -- my setting of 4.5 on the rotary knob is spot-on for my taste. So if you see one, go for it!

I bought one too, back in May.
