I poppered some of my starter kit robusta last weekend, turned the machine off just into the second crack.
I am truly amazed at how thick and gooey the shots are if you use 100 percent robusta. Typically, I have been mixing a bit with my arabica roasts. By the way, that really is the beauty of the hand grinder; to be able to sprinkle different beans into the little hopper for a custom blend each time you make coffee.
My point is; the whole robusta beans smell pretty ordinary, like old socks or something. Is that normal???
