    Hi Guys,
Just a slight off the topic question regarding the GC. How long do you wait roasting back-to-back? For instance, I have a preference for loading 150g at a time but if I want to then repeat that roast straight up I take my time reloading the chamber, so there’s maybe 3-5 min before I start roasting again, and I readjust my time to allow for the retained heat in the chamber. What’s your experience? Thanks.

EfeCaner Did you note the date of this post and the user's last login date? Almost 14 years and over 8 years ago. Unlikely you'll get a response.

Dennis another question mate. Do you start the time when you get to that particular temp? Let’s say from 150 to 200 if it takes 2 minutes do you only do 2 minutes when you get to 200 or full 4 minutes? Cheers mate

    Scott,

Thats about the right colour that my Yemen comes out like in the GC, and it does have a slight oily sheen to it. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Let it sit for about 1-2 weeks...it likes to have a longer sitting time.

    Hi Scott and welcome

I cant give you a definitive answer to your question, but hope the following helps.

First, I suggest you only place 250gm in the gene - youll be glad of this if things go wrong

Personally, I think this bean is best when roasted to a dark cinnamon colour (9 or 10 on the CS card). With the last roast I did, I kept the beans at 150* for a full five minutes before steadily increasing the temp - next to 200, then 215, then 230...4 minutes on each setting. First crack came thereabouts and held till the aforesaid colour was achieved, avoiding 2nd crack. The roast can look a little uneven - thats ok.

Oh, and make sure you look for rocks, shale, nails, etc. before you grind!

Let us know how you go
