Re: Not a good start to the week
Son No. 3 just admitted to using my DMM to check the glow plugs on a diesel engine so I figure thats why it has stopped working.
I tried some of the beans this morning - not as good as previous roasts but acceptable.
Cheers,
Chris

Re: Not a good start to the week
Ive only had one roast that had to be scrapped, my popper semi-died and was not circulating the beans in the chamber and I ended up with a batch of charcoal/oily beans......I then graduated to Corretto roasting and have been a happy chappy ever since!!!!
Ive just ordered a DMM so hopefully its not a common trait!!!

Re: Not a good start to the week
I think we all at some stage or another has had the roast stopped well short of its target. To my experience I just continued where I left off once It got everything back up and running and still drunk and enjoyed the coffee.
It might not turn out to be a perfect roast but it will probably still be 10 times as better as any supermarket packet.

Re: Not a good start to the week
Gday coddy,
Cant comment on the DMM but with a bit of luck, the beans might still be ok so dont throw them out just yet. Give em another go and hopefully the power-board wont trip out again (might be too much load with both the heatgun and the BM on the same board).
All the best mate and let us know how this batch turns out in the cup....
Cheers,
Mal.

Not a good start to the week
My DMM seemed to be stuck on about 40 C when I turned it on (ambient temp was about 27 C). About 3 mins into the roast and it was still showing only 40 C. Then at 4 mins into the roast it was another bugger - the power board tripped and turned the breadmaker and heat gun off. I switched power boards but the breadmaker wouldnt cooperate - it wanted to cool down before it would restart. I fanned air over it to speed it up but by the time I re-started the roast it was probably about 7 or 8 mins later. When the power stopped the beans were just on the verge of turning that olive-green-brown type colour with a bit of chaff starting to appear.
Is it likely the roast was stalled for too long and I have ruined the beans or is stalling more serious later in the roast ? I have roasted another batch just in case.
Also, has anyone experienced this sort of strange behaviour with their DMM. Mine has only been used 3 or 4 times.
Thanks
