Hi CS,
Just wanted to report to CS that after many hours reading and watching the discussion boards here, I got my 1st roast done today with India Mysore Nuggets from the CS Starter Pack. It took 2 attempts though!
On the first roast with a Panasonic BM and Nikita HG, I got the manual settings wrong for both - the HG was running at slow fan speed when I needed to be getting the temp up quickly for 1st crack, and the BM just stopped paddling at minute 10! In the chaos, I was rushing around for a paddle of any type, and ended up with a tent peg to stir the beans for the remaining roast! In all the commotion, I didn;t know if I was into the 1st or 2nd crack so I took a chance and pulled the beans out for cooling - WRONG MOVE...I only had 1st crack...with my tail between my legs, I went back and tried again later.
On the second attempt, I got to start of 1st crack in 11 minutes and 2nd crack at 20 minutes....maybe a bit long hey? The cooled beans looked and smelled great Anyway, cant wait for the first brew with the IKON in a few days.
Thanks to everyone for writing up their experiences on this site, it made it so much easier for me to get up and running today.

burnt flavour and very weak coffee flavour, but I was using a popper. The second attempt is in the bag and I will be trying it tomorrow but I think sight and smell are better indicators. The first did not smell as I had expected and looked dark (CS 10) and dry. The second is about CS 11 but has a better aroma and 48 hours after the roast is looking better with some oil apparent. It also took longer to roast as I have modified the popper since the first roast and extended the time - still less than your time but I have less control over the temperature.
. Now the problem is the wife wants it to bake bread (that is not what I bought it for >
