I am definately interested as Im roasting enough coffee in my Gene each week to justify spending that much $ and time on my hobby :-)
But I presume the course would be at Box Rd and centered around the roaster that you have, the Diedrich one. Roasting profiles for that and techniques of roasting on commercial machines would probably not translate that well to a Gene. That is, what I learn I may not be able to put into practice on a Gene.
Hence Im wondering would it be useful for me?

Hi Mike
Youre correct re Box Rd and using the Diedrich. How this would translate to the gene sounds a little like the debate re home roast vs. commercial.
You wont be able to mirror the profiles, though I think you will be able to look at roasting from a different perspective.
Take a look earlier in the thread as to the course objectives as that may help you decide.
Dennis, those dates look good. If same dates work with everyone else count me in. Good segue into Aromafest.
Would it be also worthwhile spending a short time in the syllabus to talk about differences and variances one would see or expect to get between commercial roasting and home roasting (Gene/iRoast/Corretto/etc)? Some of us could bring these in for comparisons. Just an idea.
Due to some work that needs to be completed at the roastery, and to give me sufficient time to prepare the training notes and handouts for the course, Im going to postpone this to the following dates:
Day One: 26th July 10.30 till 4.30 (creating profiles, roasting, cupping the results)
Day Two: 2nd August 10.30 till 4.30 (cupping the roasts, blending, assessing the outcomes)
Consider these dates as confirmed - you can go ahead and make travel arrangements if need be.
Cost to attend Day One only will be $180.00 (incl. GST). Cost to attend both Day One and Day Two will be $240.00 (incl. GST). 50% required to secure a place and balance due one week prior 19th July.
Every participant will complete a 2kg roast.
Ill send further info and an invoice to the six people who have already expressed interest later this week. For those that would be interested in doing the course at some later date, please send me a pm or email and we can do it all again!
